Alma Aguilar, PhD, LCDC, CCFC

BIOGRAPHY

     With an extensive career in Mental Health, Dr. Alma Aguilar is a bilingual (English/Spanish) licensed clinician by the State of Texas.  Throughout her career, Dr. Aguilar’s therapeutic approach is from her belief that everyone can be an overcomer.  Combining evidence-based theories and techniques, her specialty is in Drug and Alcohol Abuse, Forensic Counseling, Domestic Violence Counseling, and Faith Based Clinical Counseling.  Her focus is on treating the family with a holistic approach. Currently, Dr. Aguilar is the co-founder of a non-profit organization and works with students from Elementary through High School ages. 

     As a graduate of the University of St. Thomas, Dr. Aguilar majored in Psychology with a minor in Nursing.  Since then, she has worked in the medical, mental health and education fields. Her experience has enabled her to hold various administrative positions in her career and has enjoyed working with children to adults, both as inpatient and outpatient settings.  Her faith and commitment to God lead her to achieve a Doctorate degree in Christian Counseling.

     Dr. Aguilar’s love for community service, has awarded her several accolades. In addition to her therapeutic/professional experience, she has volunteered in various community events, held Board of Director positions with other non-profit organizations, and volunteered in her church. She enjoys going for walks, exercising, cooking, music, and all forms of art.  She is married and has two adult children and a dog whom she loves taking for walks in the park.  Dr. Aguilar enjoys traveling and family gatherings.  Her giving heart for others, makes Christmas her favorite holiday.

     Professionally, she likes to work with individuals in developing the skills that lead to success in life.  Dr. Aguilar looks forward to working with clients who are ready to take the steps into discovering their God given potential for overcoming the struggles and challenges in their life.
